Intensive Outpatient Treatment 18+

Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP) involves engaging heavily in group therapy sessions, typically in small groups that support an intimate and safe environment. All patients continue to see a personal therapist at least once weekly, but part of this step of treatment is learning about recovery from a group perspective, learning and growing with peers.

Led by a clinical professional, each meeting is assigned a topic to be discussed. These may vary from awareness-based topics like relapse prevention, spirituality, stages of change, or progression of addiction to education topics including depression/anxiety education, life transitions, and co-dependency. Also discussed are the importance of psychiatric care, 12-Step treatment, and compulsive education. Patients gain great value from these sessions as they learn how to cope with their treatment and recovery for long-term success. Learning skills for dealing with the psychological effects of their disease is invaluable with addiction.
