Jan uses a kind and compassionate approach in her work. She is committed to helping others use their strengths to improve the quality of their lives. Jan respects the unique history, experiences and beliefs that each person brings to the counseling relationship.
Jan’s clinical experience includes providing behavioral health services in an in-patient setting as well as in private practice. She enjoys working with adolescents, and adults of all ages. She incorporates Cognitive Behavioral therapy along with other modalities in her approach to helping others. Jan has considerable experience working to help others manage anxiety, depression, obsessive thoughts and compulsive behavior, self-injury, sexual assault and other trauma related issues, loss, relationship issues and concerns over work performance.
Jan earned her B.A. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her Master of Social Work from Aurora University. She also completed internships at Rockford Sexual Assault Counseling (RSAC) and Family Counseling of Northern Illinois. Currently, she is a member of the RSAC Board of Directors.
In addition to her work, Jan enjoys family and friends, gardening, reading, cooking, traveling and caring for her two spaniels. She and her husband share a profound gratitude for the blessings they receive in their life together.
