Allyson Smith

Allyson joined KP in 2018. Prior to joining the KP Counseling team Allyson worked with a local Community Mental Health Organization for five years, providing mental health and substance abuse services. She has experience working with adolescents and adults in both outpatient and residential treatment settings. Allyson has experience working with a wide range of issues including, Mood Disorders, Anxiety, Depression, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. In addition, Allyson has developed a keen interest in working with individuals struggling with Chronic Illness, LGBTQ+, Adolescent and Adult Substance Abuse, D/deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals, Offender Reentry, and Grief and Loss with a special clinical interest in Pregnancy, Infant, and Child Loss. Allyson works primarily with individuals ages 14 and up.

Allyson earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Forensic Psychology and Sociology from St. Ambrose University and her Master’s of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Judson University. She uses a Client-Centered approach along with Cognitive Behavioral, and Solution-Focused Therapy to guide her clients towards making positive changes and helping them to create meaning in their lives. She is a Master’s Level Therapist and a Certified Alcohol and Other Drugs Counselor.

Allyson enjoys spending her free time with her dog, Lennon, and friends and family.
